U10 Girls Playing U11 Liverpool
This SST Summer Select Team was coached by Jonathan Schmid of SST and was made of up girls from all different areas. The team was u10 used to playing on a small 8v8 field and by playing up it was going to be their first time playing 11v11.
The team was picked and had a few weeks before their first true test at their first tournament. The U10 SST Liverpool played their first tournament and went 4-0 scoring 21 goals and letting up 0 playing UP. Playing Teams from NY, PA, NJ, and Canada. They were crowned Champions!!!!!
The idea behind the Summer Select program is not to just win at any cost it is to play good soccer the right way and having girls play in spots that they have never played before so they can adapt and learn new spots. Winning is the product of playing good soccer and that is SSTs Summer Program mentality.
The second Tournament Liverpool was put into the second highest division and they made it into the semifinals. Again a great showing from the girls playing up and getting adapted to the 11v11 game.
Overall the Summer select program is all about players playing different positions and playing with different players and seeing if they can take their game to the next level. Equal playing time was essential as well. The training is intense and fast paced but at the same time the team always left with a smile.
U11 Girls Real Madrid
The true U11 team was also coached by SST’s Jonathan Schmid and was also made up of girls from teams all over. They have had a year of experience on the full-sided field but Coach Jonathan’s mentality was to play good attacking soccer. The girls really learned when to go forward and expose other teams defenses but also at the same time knowing went to keep possession in crucial spots.
The first tournament the girls came in 3rd while playing different positions and having a few players injured. The last tournament they won the Championship by winning in Semi’s in the 8th PK and winning 2-0 in Final.
The total goal of the Summer Team was for the girls to just develop the proper way and learn to play the game the way it is suppose to be played.
Looking back at SST’s first Summer Select year, all teams were very successful in playing the right way and with that they won many games. When you have good trainers and coaches that teach soccer with enthusiasm, knowledge, and when the players can see that they love the game it will rub off on them with the coaches they come in contact with.
